Laos data rescue field blog

LaosIn collaboration with the Laos Ministry of Health, the Vaccine Modeling Initiative and the Institut de la Recherche pour le développement (IRD) have started a project to digitize valuable disaggregated dengue surveillance data from province and district health departments in Laos. These data will be integrated with electronic sources and used for computational modeling of dengue to inform control programs of this disease. Dengue is a major public health problem in Laos and a top priority of the Ministry of Health. Data will be digitized in the 2 pilot provinces Savannakhet and Vientiane Municipality. This blog will be maintained by 2 students from the Institut de la Francophonie pour la Médecine Tropicale that are conducting this project and the Pittsburgh and IRD investigators to enable our project partners and interested public to follow this project in real time.

Hi Malyvanh and Philavanh, I just wanted to say that we really appreciate the work that you do and that you made great progress! It is not unexpected that not many documents are kept at the district health office but it would be interesting to know what they do with the documents and if there are any guidelines for archiving these. I look forward to seeing you in a few weeks during our visit! Kind regards, Wilbert
